Mouth fungus, which occurs in young children and babies, is rarely seen in adult individuals. They are white colored lesions that occur on the inner surfaces of the cheeks, gums and tongue edges. Normally mild mouth fungi are more serious in people with weak immune systems. Dry mouth, poorly made dentures and some medications cause fungal infections. Fungal infections due to prosthesis are common, especially in elderly individuals. Early diagnosis of drug-treated fungal diseases is decisive.
